Blogging, eh.

Blog. ‘Blog. Blaawwwwwwwwwwg. Bloggity bloggy blog.

BLAAAAAARGH.

Nobody remembers, but ‘blog is short for weblog, which came along after online journalling was a thing. Not a huge thing, but enough of a thing that it had cons. I didn’t go to the cons, but I online journalled. With any luck, those virtual pages were washed away with the retirement of GeoCities.

Does that make me a hipster? I suppose so. I also put Sriracha on stuff years before it was a thing. So there you have it. I’m a Sriracha online journalling hipster. Or maybe not. I’m not planning on switching to using only Sambal Olek just because Jack-in-the-Box has a Sriracha burger now.

So, a blog. Thus far, a hundred or so words in, it’s feeling much different than an online journal, in that there is a reasonable expectation that someone will read it. So I feel like I need to write to an audience. It wasn’t like that in the good old days – when I was journalling online, there was a remote possibility that someone might see it, but really it wasn’t much more likely than someone finding your physical journal on the bus and reading it. I guess in the interests of appealing to the folks who might actually be seeking out these pages, I’ll write like I expect you to find them.

Incidentally, who would those folks be? There’ll be a few who I’ve repeatedly promised to keep notes for and am now doing so in my own unique and probably discouraging (to them) way. There’s probably a few old clients – hello clients! who will be invariably disappointed I’m out of business. Folks, you don’t need me now any more than you did then – everything we discussed then is just as true now. There’s probably a few who were actually looking for the Nick Boyko that writes Fallout fan-fiction. Anyone else…yeah, if you don’t fall into one of the above categories, you’re probably lost. But you might find the occasional music post interesting.

As I mentioned in the “about this blog” page, I’ll also be regurgitating all of my old physical journals into pages here, as time goes on. Some of you might find some useful tips and tricks therein, and as promised, I’ll be destroying the hard copy. I’ve been assured, though I’m not sure how reliable that assurance is, that things that go bump in the Otherworlds don’t, or can’t, or something, read on the Internet. Score one for the humans.
